Count all the blue items

I often ask my clients to imagine that I tell them to walk into a room and count all the blue items, and then when they come back to report on their findings, to imagine that I tell them, actually, now I want to know how many red items were there. They won't know, because they weren't looking for red 🚩

It's the same with outcomes.

If you spend all of your time imagining what could go wrong, and how you'll handle it when it does, that's what you'll move towards.

That is the light in which you'll interpret the actions and reactions of others; constantly on guard, looking for evidence that you were right to be concerned.

Thoughts like that sound like:

"They don't like me" 💭

"They won't support me" 💭

"It's not going to work out" 💭

"What if…" 💭

Worry feels safe because it feels like you're preparing. But you are preparing for an outcome you don't want ✋🏼

Research suggests that worrying about something and preparing for it doesn't make it less painful when it happens, it just makes you experience the pain twice 🥴

So what do you want to look for today? And what would happen if you went into the world and the weekend imagining that things will go right, that success is already yours, and people love and support you?

Try this:

"It's possible that this could work out really well."

Open your mind to the possibility 🤯 Repeat and repeat, whenever you catch yourself going back to the worry. Counter, on purpose. Imagine things working out beautifully 🌈.

You have way more power than you think to direct your own mental and emotional energy. Do you really want to spend it imagining thing going wrong? Especially since we know that if they do, they can and will entirely without your help 😉.

The choice is yours.

And as it happens, so is the power, the freedom, and all of the opportunity.

Especially if you go looking for them!
